How does it work?
Impulse Excitation Technique (IET) is a non-destructive testing method that measures the dynamic mechanical properties of materials.
An energy impulse is applied on a sample by the device, which allows the measurement of the sample’s resonance frequencies and damping characteristics.
Mechanical properties such as the Young- and Shear-Moduli (and Poisson’s ratio), porosity and internal friction can be determined. The technique works for all kinds of materials such as metals, ceramics, composites and polymers.
