Abstract
This text describes a rapid and absolutely non-destructive method for controlling grinding wheel hardness. The method is based on determining the elastic modulus of the wheel, calculated from the natural vibration frequency measured simply using the GrindoSonic apparatus.
Through the use of shape factor tables, the calculation itself is greatly reduced compared to that required by classical formulas, which moreover only apply to thin objects. All necessary information is provided for storing the shape factors and formulas in a small desktop calculator, enabling automatic calculation of the elastic modulus.
Key Benefits
- Rapid non-destructive testing
- Simplified calculation using shape factor tables
- Applicable to any wheel geometry
- Can be automated with desktop calculator
Conclusion
Practical examples demonstrate the validity and value of the proposed method.
