Abstract
Once a suitable grinding wheel has been found for a particular job, the choice of grinding conditions still remains. These grinding conditions must be determined in such a way that grinding can be done in the most economical manner while meeting the quality requirements.
Considerations
- Specified surface roughness requirements
- Avoidance of burn marks and internal stresses
- Available spindle power
- Special requirements such as deflection limits in some cases
Solution
These problems can be easily solved using the diagrams developed by CRIF, the so-called MACHINING CHARTS, and a series of supplementary nomograms.
Applicability
The general principles of this method apply to every type of grinding operation. Currently, the method is practically applicable for surface and cylindrical plunge grinding as well as cylindrical longitudinal grinding.
