Abstract
In the present work, the consequences of frost and salt action on the structure of five sandstones from different geological epochs from the Federal Republic of Germany are discussed, with particular attention paid to the dynamic process of salt and ice crystallization in the pore space. A large number of characteristic values and features were recorded for these rocks, e.g. mineralogical and structural properties, pore space-related features, strength and deformation properties. Thus, the rock-specific boundary conditions for the subsequent weathering simulation are known.
